Singer, songwriter, vocalist and lead guitarist for the widely influential group New Grass Revival, Pat Flynn, along with Bela Fleck, Sam Bush and John Cowan, redefined modern bluegrass and acoustic music with a wild and deep creative energy.  New Grass provided the form and inspiration for today’s progressive Acoustic Music scene. ‘New Grass’ is now a common media phrase used to describe a new genre in the contemporary music era.

Pat was voted Best Acoustic Guitarist 5 years in a row by Frets Magazine’s National Readers Poll, landing him in the magazine’s Gallery of Greats alongside Tony Rice, Chet Atkins and Doc Watson.

As a first call session musician in Nashville Tennessee, Pat has recorded on over 500 projects with such artists as Garth Brooks, George Strait, Raul Malo, Lee Ann Womack, Roseanne Cash, Glen Campbell, Reba McEntyre, Don Williams, Randy Travis, Nanci Griffith, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn and Leon Russell including many Grammy, CMA and Gold/Platinum selling projects.

Garth Brooks’ recording of Pat’s song ‘Do What You Gotta Do’ became a hit single and a staple of Country radio. The inside story of Pat’s collaboration with Garth in the recording of this song is featured in the latest release of Garth’s autobiography, ‘Anthology II.’

Pat has acted as Musical Director for the Tom T. Hall Artist-In Residence event at the Country Music Hall of Fame. He was band leader for both the Leon Russell and Michael Martin Murphey episodes of the PBS special ‘Bluegrass Underground.’ His 3 solo CDs – reQuest, reVision and reNew have garnered wide acclaim across all Bluegrass, Americana and Country genres.
